With the objective of working together to improve the earnings of artisans belonging to SC categories across India, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Ministry of Textiles. the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC) and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (SJ&E) and Development Commissioner(DC) (Handicrafts). Tex Min & M/O SJ&E have come together to step up interventions for the economic development of an estimated 12 lakh scheduled caste artisans.
The MoU was signed by DC (Handicrafts) Shri Alok Kumar and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NSFDC, Shri Shyam Kapoor in the presence of Union Textiles Minister Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani and Union Minister of SJ&E, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot. Textiles Secretary, Smt. Rashmi Verma and Secretary of Ministry of SJ&E, Smt. Latha Krishna Rao, were also present on the occasion.
