Govt announced a slew of pro-farmer measures in Budget 2017

A slew of pro-farmer measures has been announced by the Government of India in the union budget 2017-18 on February 1st 2017. The Govt expects agriculture to grow at 4.1% in this year as the total area sown under kharif and rabi seasons are higher than the previous year and there exists better monsoon. 

Government proposed to increase credit flow in agriculture sector from Rs 9 lakh crores this fiscal to the tune of Rs 10 lakh crores in 2017-18 and hike the corpus of irrigation fund from Rs 20,000 crores to Rs 40,000 crores.
